Who they are

Royal Roads University is located in the Hatley Park National Historic Site. It was built and served for 55 years as a military college. For the last 23 years, it has operated as a public applied research university.

What we did

As the lessee, the university retained Celerity Engineering to serve as the Independent Professional for the new Sherman Jen Building, which will house the Centre for Environmental Science and International Partnership.

Our role was to review the construction documents for compliance with applicable codes and standards, and issue a recommendation to begin construction.

We monitored the project throughout construction, answering site questions, and ensuring that work was in compliance with the code. At completion, we completed a final review and recommended that the University accept the building for occupancy.

The building opened in September, 2018.

This project has very beautifully integrated the environmental and technological requirements of a contemporary building with the existing, connected heritage structure.
